A brief peek into a day in rehab shows that there is always a schedule to follow. It usually starts with morning meditation (or a similar exercise for other centers) with an inspirational reading to start the day on a positive note. There are usually discussions after as participants share their thoughts on the daily reading finishing off with something simple but encouraging. This session is followed by breakfast and getting ready for the day’s activities. Breakfast is not always conventional as those with eating disorders will have a therapist eating with him or her. After breakfast are the day’s activities of group therapy, and work discussions with smoke or snack breaks in between. This time is used for working through the different cases and attending counseling and group sessions. The group sessions include Anger Management, Gender Issues, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, among others. Towards the end of the clinical day which is before 4 pm is wrap up time where the patients and therapists get together to assess the day’s accomplishments. Extracurricular activities follow up to evening and dinner such as walking, exercising, reading, or going to the gym. The day ends with a simple hang-out time with new friends. On occasion, there will be outside meetings that take place before dinner with AA or NA. It should be noted that there is a curfew which is usually at midnight and men do not sleep in the same quarters as women.
