Bill W. (2012) documentary
Many of us have read the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and are very familiar with the story of Bill W., but there is so much more to the AA movement than originally published in those 575 pages. There is also something special about being able to see the actual footage and listen to the audio recordings from his powerful shares.
There is a reason Bill W. was listed as TIME magazine’s “100 Persons of the 20th Century.” Bill had a fascinating life and a knack for speaking. He created a program of recovery that has saved countless lives, has withstood the test of time and is known all over the world today.
This documentary unveils various layers of Bill W. that may not have been readily apparent from simply reading his story in the Big Book. It paints him as a human with real flaws. A human that continued to do one thing consistently despite his life’s trials and tribulations, and that was not pick up that first drink or drug and to continue to share the message with other alcoholics.
I urge you to pop some popcorn, set aside some time to get to know Bill on a much deeper level, and get reinspired by the program all over again!
