Synchronicity is defined as a complex process of experiences that come together and form a new meaning. It’s a difficult concept to understand; a concept that originated from psychologist Carl Jung who says that it is a causal relationship that forces people to transform and question what is rational. These events do not happen often. A simple example would be unexpectedly bumping into someone after years of no contact at a time when you needed that person to be around. Events like these should be used with reverence and seen as an awakening sign; of changes to come or changes that need to be made. It is especially true with people suffering from addiction. Synchronicity can be considered an alternative intro to addiction treatment. Synchronistic events can help addicts transition to sobriety. Many ex-addicts talk about unexplained experiences that changed the course of their lives and brought them to long term recovery – happily. Often, praying helps because it opens a path to “soul making�? and acceptance to change.
